Install and use Promptential

Install

Install from the Chrome Web Store, open chatgpt.com, and focus the message editor. A small Improve prompt button appears above it.

Review and apply

  1. Type a rough coding request.
  2. Click Improve prompt.
  3. Review the Diff, Brief, and Original tabs.
  4. Click Apply or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter. Undo restores your original text.

Settings

Open the extension’s options to override the API URL, choose a local-history retention period, or clear history.

Local development

The extension defaults to http://localhost:8787. Run the API and mock model, load apps/extension/dist as an unpacked extension, and reload ChatGPT after changing the API URL.

Limits

Requests are limited to 20,000 characters (2,000 in the web demo). Free accounts receive five improvements per day. Prompts are never persisted by the API.
